At Markusfeld Restoration, we recently had the pleasure of moving a stunning 19th-century French Louis XIII-style oak bookcase into its new home at Tailored Society in downtown Carmel. This remarkable piece now complements other beautiful, era-specific furniture in the space.
The bookcase features some fascinating craftsmanship, including pivot hinges, hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, and saw marks that indicate pre-electric power tools were used in its creation.
Moving such a rare and delicate piece required detailed planning and expertise. Our team carefully disassembled the bookcase, transported it safely, and reassembled it in its new location, ensuring every part was in perfect working order.
Antiques like this require specialized knowledge, experience, and care to move correctly. I’m often called in when moving companies decide a piece is too risky for them to handle. Unfortunately, I also get called in to restore items that have been damaged by unqualified movers.
If you have a treasured antique or valuable piece that needs to be moved or transported, contact us below or give us a call at 317-727-1536. We’ll make sure your items are handled with the care and expertise they deserve.
